Redhouse Records recording artist, and Fiddling Cricket favorite, Ray Bonneville, returns to the Mission City Coffee stage after an 18 month gap, on his way up to an appearance at the Kate Wolf Festival in far northern California. His almost antique guitars and footboard percussion are augmented by smoky vocals mixed with outstanding rack harmonica playing (he started musical life as a harp blues player). He has a unique, roots influenced, country blues style which captures new fans wherever he goes. Ray has played all over the continent for 30 years, with "home" being Quebec (where he was born), Boston, New Orleans, Paris, Colorado, Seattle, Alaska, Montreal, rural Arkansas, and now Austin, Texas. A citizen of both Canada and the US, and bilingual, he is also well-known on the European circuit, where he tours with J.J. Cale and Robert Cray. His last CD, Goin' on Feel, released in 2008, which stretched him into new territory with gritty production and raw Americana instrumentation, contained a number of tracks picked up and recorded by other artists.
