Ronstadt Generations: Representing five generations in North America, Ronstadt Generations continues the family's musical traditions. Started by Michael J. Ronstadt (younger brother of Linda) and his sons, Michael G. and Petie. Multi-instrumentalists and solo performers in their own right, they present an exciting repertoire that preserves the traditional Southwestern and Mexican songs of their heritage while offering innovative original material. New compositions place them on the cutting edge of multiple, blended genres, stretching the boundaries of folk, blues, jazz and beyond. Rich harmonies sung in English and Spanish are accompanied by outstanding cello and guitars. Individually and together, Stateside and across the pond, the trio's worldwide touring and recording credits include such diverse artists as Linda Ronstadt, Los Lobos, Dixie Hummingbirds, David Bromberg, Nydia Rojas, Tish Hinojosa, Muriel Anderson, and Mariachi Vargas, to name a few. http://almaartistbooking.com/ronstadt-generations/

Ismay : Coming from the coastal hills of Petaluma, California, Ismay represents the work of singer, songwriter, and guitarist Avery Hellman. Immersed in traditional American music since her earliest memories of her grandfather, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival founder Warren Hellman, Avery learned to sing and play by performing the music of iconic bluegrass, old time, and folk musicians such as Doc Watson, Hazel Dickens and Townes Van Zandt. Throughout the years, the vastly different sounds of Captain Beefheart, Cat Power, Elliot Smith, and Phosphorescent combined to influence Ismay's carefully constructed lyrics and melodies with an electrified sound in what could be described as ethereal folk. www.ismaymusic.com

The Quitters are a guitar duo, consisting of a right-side up finger picker and an upside down flat picker. More importantly they were two of the three founding members of the virtuoso string band, The Waybacks, and one was the long-time lead guitarist and co-founder of the Americana powerhouse, Houston Jones. Now they play together, on their own, hence the name, "The Quitters". They deliver a mostly acoustic celebration of flatpick and fingerstyle mastery, plus vocals, spiced with humor and serendipity.

Originally from New Jersey, Glenn Houston's (nee Pomianek) guitarist influences range from Albert King to Doc Watson, as shows in his mastery of both the acoustic and electric guitar. He has shared billing with luminaries in the folk, Americana, blues, country, rock and jazz genres far too numerous to list, and has even been a choral vocal performer with the LA Philharmonic and the Boston Symphony! After an illustrious career with several Bay Area bands, he co-founded the Waybacks in 1999 with Stevie Coyle and Chojo Jacques, leaving to pursue other directions before their first CD was made. One of those directions was co-founding the Houston Jones band, with vocalist Travis Jones, from which he retired last year.

Stevie Coyle's dad ran a radio station, his granny was a vaudeville pianist, his mother played in a mandolin orchestra, David Lindley rehearsed right next door and gave Stevie his first guitar lessons, and the first Hot Tuna album inspired him to begin fingerpicking! After degrees in Theatre and Theology he hit the road with The Royal Lichtenstein Circus, doing comedy, magic, wire-walking, sword-swallowing, and juggling. He has collaborated with Roy Zimmerman for 25 years, including folk tribute / parody band, The Foremen, and comedy duo, The Reagan Bros. In 1999 he co-founded The Waybacks and toured with them through 2007. Since then he has released his first solo CD and in 2012 opened his own high-end acoustic guitar shop, Mighty Fine Guitars, in Lafayette, CA.

Cache Valley Drifters, CVD, from the Santa Barbara region were a hot bluegrass group originally, and then the original backing group for the legendary singer-songwriter, Kate Wolf, in the 70's. They are instantly recognizable by their signature driving rhythm, layered and textured ballad presentation, unique acoustic arrangements and vocalization harmony! Two of the current members have been with the group since the early 70's, Bill Griffin, mandolin, guitar and lead vocals, and Wally Barnick, bass and lead vocals. Bill produced several of Kate Wolf's albums. In the last few years he has concentrated on Hawaiian music collaborations and also being a luthier and inventing the Mandolele. Wally spent two years also playing with Bluegrass etc, and is featured on their award winning album, "Home Is Where the Heart Is". The third member of the trio, Mike Mullins (guitar, mandolin, lead vocals), joined "recently" (1993!), after playing with The Acousticats and The Phil Salazar Band. He is also their resident songwriter, and released a solo CD in 2015. CVD have 7 albums to their credit.

CVD perform a wide range of material from folk to bluegrass, The Eagles to theGrateful Dead, little known arcane delights, and originals from Mike - all with incredible harmony and superb instrumental arrangements.

After 19 years together in this tro configuration they retired from regular performing a while back, but, accepting an invitation to perform at a celebration for what would have been the late Kate Wolf's 75th birthday, the fellows will once again be together for that special event to be held in Berkeley, CA on January 27, 2017. The Ugly Mug performance is one of several rounding out the weekend.
