Bean Creek is a bluegrass band that plays traditional style bluegrass, but also includes old country, mountain music, and some originals. Voted Best Band this year by the Northern California Bluegrass Society (for the second time), they have also have captured Best Vocalist, Best Banjo Player, and Best Mandolin Player in previous years. Vocal harmonies and fine pickin' place Bean Creek in the top echelon of the California traditional scene.

The band searches for songs that have been lost or underappreciated and make them its own, while still tapping into the tradition of the original vocal rendition. They have carved a niche for themselves among the critical and experienced bluegrass fans as the "real thing". More suede than patent leather, Bean Creek sings and plays with vigor and emotion.

Band members are: Billy Pitrone, who leads the band on rhythm guitar and vocals. He has the perfect natural voice for his material; Sarah Eblen, doghouse bass, sings both lead and backup vocals with a pure heartfelt voice; Rob Horgan, who plays both finger picking and frailing banjo styles; and Peter Hicks, who doubles on mandolin and fiddle in many styles, as well as lending his keen ear and deep voice to the band. www.beancreekbluegrass.com

Miss Lonely Hearts is a five-piece (acoustic guitar, electric guitar, lap steel/ fiddle, drums, upright bass) Honky Tonk band from Santa Cruz. Miss Lonely Hearts recorded their 4th full length album "Lost Highway" in the spring of 2016. In 2015 the boys went on their first USA tour and played over 150 shows in the last 2 years. They frequently tour the Pacific Northwest and recently toured with "The Devil Makes Three" incl. 2 shows in Canada. http://www.misslonelyheartsband.com

Hillstomp: The Portland Oregon junkbox blues duo is infamous for digging through the dumps and forgotten backwoods of American music, recycling traditional elements into a refreshing and distinctive brand of do-it-yourself hill country blues stomp. North Mississippi trance blues, a bit of Appalachia, and a dash of punkabilly come clanging and tumbling from assorted buckets, cans and BBQ lids, all drenched in rambunctious slide guitar. Somehow it works. Despite their homemade instruments and novel approach, Hillstomp is no novelty act. Hillstomp's memorable live performances tap into a magic that cannot be rehearsed, converting outlaws and traditionalists alike from skeptics into preachers. http://www.hillstomp.com

Willy Tea Taylor is a father, brother, and son. His remarkable ability to sing about profound subjects in a simple way makes his songs a great place to lose yourself. Much of that comes from his upbringing. Willy grew up surrounded by rolling hills and horses in the small town of Oakdale, California. Known as the “Cowboy Capital of the World” for breeding so many world champion rodeo cowboys, Oakdale is still Willy's home and the setting for many of his songs. Blackwing Music is proud to announce the release of Knuckleball Prime, the highly anticipated sophomore album from Willy Tea Taylor. Recorded in Nashville, TN, Knuckleball Prime features eleven original compositions that highlight Taylor's brilliant storytelling and heartfelt vocals.http://willyteataylor.com

El Rhan Combo is the rhythmically enhanced version of Rhan Wilson and friends. Featuring Rick Zeek on guitar and vocals, Michael Westendorp on bass, and this year's Gail Rich Award recipient Patti Maxine on lap steel - these good musical friends enjoy the addition of Stephen Bigger on keyboards, and Warren Charles Jones on percussion. Taking the entire evening to unimaginable angelic heights will be Pipa Piñon on vocals.

Expect the usual eclectic yin-yang mix of Rick's Americana style originals and covers in contrast to Rhan's quirky yet soulful reinterpretations of familiar tunes - and then some. New tunes, in-the-moment improvisations, and a yet to be named third element to this sentence will entertain and entrance - all at the little corner coffee shop in the little town of Soquel that is The Ugly Mug. www.rhanwilson.com

Roy Zimmerman: “Without a doubt, Roy Zimmerman is among the most important political commentators of the last few decades, and in the end, it's the music that unites and disarms. With music this good and humor this insightful, there is good reason to be optimistic.”— No Depression magazine. What can one person do about racism, gun violence, climate change, income inequality, bigotry, ignorance, war and greed? “Write funny songs,” says Roy Zimmerman. Over twenty years on stages, screens and airwaves across America, Roy has brought the sting of satire to the struggle for Peace and Justice. His songs have been heard on HBO and Showtime. He has recorded for Warner/Reprise Records. His YouTube videos have garnered over seven million views, and he's a featured blogger for the Huffington Post. http://www.royzimmerman.com
