The Cache Valley Drifters are Bill Griffin, Wally Barnick, and Mike Mullins, originally from the Santa Barbara area, with about 140 years of music performing experience between them. They perform with exquisite instrumentation (guitar, mandolin, bass), gorgeous harmonies, intelligent song selections (mostly covers, both well-known and arcane) and hilarious personalities. Pushing the boundaries of acoustic music for over four decades, CVD's sound is a blend of musical styles and influences that focuses on unique arrangements, driving rhythm, and rich vocal presentations. It was Americana before the name existed! They were also the backing band for legendary singer-songwriter, Kate Wolf, in the 70's. While their music sits on a solid foundation of bluegrass and folk, these guys can and do branch out in many other directions, including the Dead and Cream. They have played many concerts for Fiddling Cricket over a 20 year period, keep threatening to retire, and keep coming back for "just one more tour". We hope that will continue for a while longer. www.facebook.com/theCacheValleyDrifters

Chris Webster and Nina Gerber
Chris Webster is a soul singer beyond genre and Nina Gerber is a soulful guitarist beyond belief.
Wednesday, October 17th, 7:30pm $20/$23

FC Cosponsored Show, Presented with Snazzy Productions

Chris Webster is a soul singer beyond genre. In the course of recording over 20 albums on her own and with others, she has drawn equally from classic R&B thumpers and gospel-grass prayers, from rockabilly rave-ups and singer/songwriter confessions. Webster's work is rooted in the classic American tension between a yearning for transcendence and a lusty connection to the here-and-now. Her voice conveys a passion that connects with the longings of her audience. She expresses sometimes-troubled feelings that everyone understands. But Webster goes beyond pain to hope; her voice can be a compassionate balm to the troubled soul. Performing live, her intensity brings a hush to every room she plays. Those who see her hear it: Chris Webster is the real deal. http://www.chriswebstermusic.com/

Nina Gerber: "...the epitome of a perfect musician! It is so Zen the way she perfectly under-girds and complements whatever music is at hand, never playing an extraneous or superfluous or irrelevant note, & always being perfectly in the flow with whatever she is playing & whomever she's playing with! Playing Music together on that level is Divine!--- everything else is a more or less skillful filling the air with a more or less pleasant bunch of notes!" 2 Rivers is the confluence of two voices and visions, creating a moving, sonic flow of harmonies and song craft you're sure to enjoy.

Richard Bryanthas toured the world as a vocalist with major acts from the Doobie Brothers to the Little River Band. Most recently he can be heard as the golden voiced lead singer with Santa Cruz's own White Album Ensemble. A native of the Pacific Northwest, Richard has made his home in the Monterey Bay for many years, and spends his non-singing time as a recording engineer and recording educator.

Conversely, Kyle Kovalik is a native of this area but spent the majority of his musical life playing guitar in Seattle, along with major time in the Rocky Mountain region. Recently returned to his home roots, Kyle's fiery licks and unusual finger style picking will wow you, along with his soulful songwriting.
