Evie Ladin Band: Tenacious, innovative string musicians/dancers with a pulsing neo-trad heart, the Evie Ladin Band – Evie Ladin, Keith Terry and Erik Pearson – throws down soulful folk songs with a four-dimensional live show. Grounded in Appalachian old-time repertoire, seasoned in African-diaspora roots, writing from life in modern cities, blurring the lines between music and dance, audiences are captivated by the Evie Ladin Band concert experience. Heard from Hardly Strictly Bluegrass to Prairie Home Companion, with a silver medal from Clifftop, WV's illustrious Neo-Trad Stringband contest, the group celebrates the release of their fourth record, 13 original songs with a truly original sound in new old-time Americana. http://www.evieladin.com/evie-ladin-band-w-keith-terry-erik-pearson/

Paper Wings captivates their listeners with a sound that is delicate, powerful, and refreshingly intimate. The stunning vocal blend of Emily Mann and Wilhelmina Frankzerda soars over a rotating cast of banjo, guitar, and fiddles. These two blossoming songwriters have a distinctive way of weaving traditional Appalachian music in to their thoughtfully crafted songs leaving you feeling nostalgic and exhilarated. Both exceptionally accomplished multi-instrumentalists, they walk the line between vibrant originality and a deep care for traditional music and its history. They are the 2018 recipients of "A Good Idea" fund from Australian Folk-Pop duo Oh Pep! to sponsor a week dedicated to songwriting. Paper Wings' released their self-titled debut album in 2017 and their second album is set to drop in April 2019. Paper Wings is a genuine intertwining of two souls you won't soon forget. https://www.paperwingsmusic.com/

Hank & Ella With The Fine Country Band: This musical group is sure to get you moving on the dance floor! And maybe waltzing with your darling to one of Hank Warde's heartfelt, dreamy melodies. The band also features boogie woogie, honky tonk, and classic duets. Hank and Ella With The Fine Country Band have just released their self-titled debut album. The album is made up of 13 original, vintage-inspired songs that explore themes of Love and Loss, Dimly-Lit Honky-Tonks, Working Hard and Having a Good Time. Imagery throughout the album transports the listener back to the era when the rock and roll sound was still being created. The band puts their own stamp on this early rock and country sound by injecting unique, dreamy melodies that soar over Hank's vocal lines. The distinct chord progressions and The Diamond Sisters' harmonies push the songs into dream land. “We really like the sounds that take the listener to new, uncharted places--sounds that bring up uncertain, joyful emotions.” https://www.thefinecountryband.com/

Gerard Egan: Western Swing / Juke Box country vocalist and guitar ace of the Carolyn Sills Combo. Gerard is also a DJ on KPIG and if you ever treated yourself to the radio show he shares with Carolyn, you know how much fun you can have with vintage, traditional and timeless country music. Now you will get to treat yourself to Gerard's loving take on Western Swing and good old juke box honky-tonk music. http://www.carolynsills.com

With a perfect blend of voices, supported by minimal instrumentation, The Real Sarahs are rising stars in West Coast Americana, and have begun to distinguish themselves as masters of harmony and evocative songwriters. Their organic sound enchants and uplifts as they share their special gift of vocal synergy. Embracing many genres of music, you are likely to hear threads of folk, jazz, blues, and country running through their honest and heartfelt songs.

Introduced by a mutual friend in 2010, Sarah 'Songbird' Larkin and Sarah Ryan have been nearly inseparable, musically, since. The 2017 release Afternoon With the Dirty Birds showcases their songs with a big, 'full band' sound. Their 2018 release Headed For The Hills goes back to their roots as acoustic musicians. The album was recorded in one day, on one microphone, capturing the authentic power of their sound. https://therealsarahs.com/

Fiddling Cricket & Canyon Acoustic Society Concert Series 2019

Ray Bonneville and Richie Lawrence
In the Groove Bluesy Americana
Wednesday, April 10th, 7:30pm (doors open at 7.00pm) Tickets $15 adv / $15 door
Presented by Fiddling Cricket Concerts & Canyon Acoustic Society
AT MICHAEL'S ON MAIN
2591 Main St, Soquel, CA 95073, Reservations online or call 831 479 9777

Ray Bonneville strips his bluesy Americana to its essentials and steeps it in the humid grooves of the South, creating a compelling poetry of hard living. Rich guitar and harmonica lines resonate over spare rhythms, while Ray's voice confesses life's realities. Bonneville allows space between notes that adds potency to every chord, lick, and lyric.

Often called a "song and groove man", he began writing his own music after two decades working as a studio musician, playing rowdy rooms with blues bands, and living hard. He's since released nine albums, won Canada's Juno Award, earned wide critical acclaim, and garnered an enthusiastic following in the U.S., Canada, and Europe (sometimes known as Rayheads). Ray is joined by Richie Lawrence, master keyboard and harmonica man in his own right. https://raybonneville.com and http://richielawrence.com

Gurf Morlix
“Impossible Blue” is 10th solo album from the Austin-based songwriter

Thursday, April 25th, 7:30pm $15/$15

PRESENTED WITH SNAZZY PRODUCTIONS - FC Cosponsored Show
AT MICHAEL'S ON MAIN
2591 Main St, Soquel, CA 95073, Reservations online or call 831 479 9777

Never mind the fact that his perspective on the matter was inevitably skewed by his years of working with such grading-curve-blowing talents as Blaze Foley, Lucinda Williams, Butch Hancock, Robert Earl Keen, Mary Gauthier, and Ray Wylie Hubbard: a high bar is a high bar, and Morlix, for all of his famed minimalist aesthetic both onstage and in the studio, has never been one to cut corners when it comes to quality. So by the time he finally did feel ready to step out with 2000's Toad of Titicaca, there was no mistaking his debut for the work of an artist content to make due with just good enough. And now, nearly two decades later, when Morlix deems the nine new cuts comprising his 10th solo album, Impossible Blue (due Feb. 8 on Rootball Records), to be “the best songs I've ever written,” take it as a matter of fact that every word, line, and note has been duly vetted by the toughest critic he's ever encountered in his 50-odd years of making music: himself. www.gurfmorlix.com

Blue Summit is a group of very talented young musicians from Northern California, who grew up performing in the California Bluegrass community, though their current repertoire is much broader (including folk, Americana, country, swing, and jazz). They have already appeared at major music festivals in the US and will be travelling abroad for the first time later this year (UK and Ireland). Lead vocalist, song writer, and master mandolinist, AJ Lee, has been performing on stage since she was 5, started writing her own material at 12, and now, at 21, it's hard to keep her from leaving the West Coast for Nashville. Jesse Fichman, a couple of years older, and a UCSC graduate (biology), started playing guitar at 10 and has already played in numerous bluegrass, jazz, and country bands. He plays several other instruments, including piano and clarinet, and also sings. Guitarist and vocalist, Sullivan Tuttle ("Sully"), 23, has had an international following since he was 10, owing to a U-Tube video (1.6 million views) in which he played with his sister and brother. Chad Bowen, double bassist and harmony vocals, joined the group in 2018. He hails from Ohio, but has been playing in Bay area bands for 10 years.

The group decided to go for it as fulltime as working musicians in 2018. They have one excellent CD, Sweet Company out and another of all originals in the works. https://www.bluesummitmusic.com/
