Jorma Kaukonen on recording Roy Book Binder's Song: "Nobody writes in the idiom better than Roy Book Binder. He is a master player, singer, writer and teller of tales -- true tales. He wrote THE PREACHER PICKED THE GUITAR and passed it on to me. It is an honor to include it here.

Roy's eclectic repertoire includes blues, country tunes, bluegrass, folk, and popular songs that originated on Tin Pan Alley. Roy has the goods: the original, the bare-knuckle, the low-down blues. Who can say they were friends with the Rev. Gary Davis and Pink Anderson? And toured with Arthur Big Boy Crudup, Hot Tuna & Bonnie Raitt? Roy can. He has the stories, the licks, and the mystery of timeless music in his fingers. He's been featured on a PBS special and interviewed by Terry Gross on Fresh Air. Roy is included in the Blues Who's Who and The Big Book Of the Blues. http://www.roybookbinder.com

When he rolls his 'Tour Bus' to town, a one-man blues-fest ensues. He plays and he entertains, feeding us music and stories, and the evening is a celebration for us all. We're privileged to have Roy here to preserve–and extend—the tradition of great American blues music.” - James Hip-Tiberon Daily

Fiddling Cricket & Canyon Acoustic Society Concert Series 2019

Nell Robinson and Jim Nunally Band
Alt-Roots, Folkbilly!

Friday, June 21st, 7:30pm (doors open at 7.00pm) Tickets $18 adv / $20 door
Presented by Fiddling Cricket Concerts & Canyon Acoustic Society

The Nell & Jim Band bring together genre-busting artists and joyful music infused with folk, bluegrass, americana, roots, swing, jazz, and blues. Alt-Roots, Folkbilly - whatever you call it - it's original, well done, and a pleasure to hear. Featuring Nell Robinson on flute & vocals, and Jim Nunally on guitar & vocals, with backing by Jim Kerwin on upright bass, and Alex Aspinall on percussion, this configuration of the band gave an outstanding performance for us about a year ago.

Nell (aka Hilary Perkins) started her professional singing career later in life, "after 25 years of singing in my car", but has one of the finest voices in roots music. She honors her southern roots by taking, as her stage name, that of her Alabama grandmother.

Jim, as performer, composer, and record producer has been a staple of Bay Area bluegrass and traditional music for a quarter of a century. He has worked with many bands (including David Grisman) and has received Grammy and IBMA awards and has twice won the Western Flatpicking Guitar Championship. www.nellandjim.com
