Edge of the West plays the music of Gram Parsons
Thursday, August 22nd, 7:30pm $10/$10
21 and over
PRESENTED WITH SNAZZY PRODUCTIONS - FC Cosponsored Show
AT MICHAEL'S ON MAIN
2591 Main St, Soquel, CA 95073, Reservations online or call 831 479 9777

Gram Parsons: Honky tonkin' jam band Edge of the West plays a special tribute show to their musical hero Gram Parsons. Gram Parsons was enormously influential in both country and rock music, being one of the first to blend the two to the point that they became indistinguishable from each other. His work with The Byrds, with the Flying Burrito Brothers, his solo records and classic duet singing with his young protégé Emmylou Harris have proven to be seminal and lasting influences in the evolution of Country, Rock, Alt-Country and Americana. Parsons died of a heroin overdose in 1973 at the age of 27 and was cremated by his "road mangler" Phil Kauffman in Joshua Tree National Park as per his last wishes. While not achieving mainstream stardom during his lifetime, Gram's legend his lived on to inspire millions and the echoes of his sounds are still heard today. As his friend Keith Richards wrote, "This is why we're talking about him now."

Edge of The West: Musical adventurers Edge Of The West have been steadily touring the Western US, Alaska and Hawaii since 2016, exploring the deep American outback, exciting audiences and rocking their Americana-outlaw hippie jamband blend of originals and rootsy covers. Their energetic and danceable sound appeals to a wide variety of music fans, lighting up rooms and festival grounds. The four singers and writers in the group bring a bounty of songs of their own plus a deep repertoire of covers in many genres. Their eponymous first record was released in Spring 2016 with the next one in process for release later this year. Featuring known musicians who've also played with the New Riders of the Purple Sage, Todd Snider, Johnny Paycheck, Cake, David Nelson Band, Great American Taxi, Lacy J Dalton and more, Edge Of The West brings some serious cred, history, family ties and deep musical roots to the table. And they know how to show ‘em a good time. That's what they do. http://www.edgeofthewest.band www.edgeofthewest.band

Jennings and Keller are Laurie Jennings Oudin and Dana Keller, an acoustic duo based out of Miami, FL. They bring a wealth of experience to their collaboration, from the Broadway musicals of New York to the honkytonks of West Texas. They released their 4th CD, You can't Go Home Again a couple of years ago and are currently on their annual many month cross-country tour, including extensive time up and down the West Coast. A former Shakespearean actress, Laurie has been a singer and songwriter for many years and was also the proprietress of The Main Street Café, a haven for acoustic music known and loved by musicians throughout the country. Dana Keller is a veteran pedal steel, dobro, and guitar player who has spent years performing on stage or in the studio with such luminaries as Vince Gill, Ricky Skaggs, and Stevie Wonder. They have visited us several time before, but not since 2015, so it is nice to have them return. http://www.jenningsandkeller.com/index.php

Our own Marky Starks, local singer songwriter will open with a few of her songs and maybe join Laurie on one or two.
