Dan Crary, Steve Spurgin, and Martin Stevens come together rooted deep in traditional music; together, they entertain audiences with new songs and old stories, blazing instrumental virtuosity, and deep-down, powerfully felt musical moments. A concert by Thunderation is whistling winds in the pines, rambling boys and tragic girls, joys and laughter from old times, fast and furious instrumental tunes and a little touch of glory-to-god. And it's ghosts of Jimmie Rogers and The Carter Family and Bill and Lester and Earl and Woodie Guthrie and all the greats who showed us the way. www.thunderation.com

Ray Wylie Hubbard writes the kind of songs that make you want to ride along no matter where he's going, because you know it's gonna get strange somewhere along the way. The references to Muddy Waters being as deep as William Blake (“I really do believe it,'' Ray says) and lipstick pickups, resonator slides, the dreams of drunken poets, deceased call girls, opium, wasp's nests, clouds growing a tail, his ability to segue seamlessly from primal exclamations of carnal lust into songs about salvation without pausing for irony; and a craftsmanship that manages to rhyme mescaline and gasoline and Volkswagen with dragon while painting vivid portraits of characters both real and unreal, all evoke a sense of place that is larger than life but in no way made up. In case you're wondering where he's been since his last album Snake Farm , Ray's been writing, only he tested his chops as a screenwriter, conceiving an outlaw western straight out of the Peckinpah school (“set in 1912 so we can have a Buick and a motorcycle and automatic weapons as well as horses”). That his first screenplay actually got funded, filmed and slated for release is a testament to the caliber of his writing, the fact that Kris Kristofferson, Dwight Yoakam, and Lizzy Caplan appear among the ensemble of accomplished actors speaks volumes of the respect he has earned among his peers . http://raywylie.com/

FC Cosponsored Show with
AT DON QUIXOTES MUSIC HALL

6275 Highway 9 in Downtown Felton, call 831-603-2294

Amy LaVere is an evocative, spitfire Americana artist and has been featured in several movies including Walk The Line and Black Snake Moan. http://amylavere.com

The London Daily Mirror on Amy's third album Stranger Me : “The stand-up bass-slapping starlet takes her country rockabilly grooves into some unexpected twists, turns and deep ravines on this third album. Her Songs have dynamic intelligence and just the right amount of deadpan humor with vocal skills that are both delicate and sensual.

The Washington Times said “Amy Lavere is a Southern gothic songbird, with a girlish voice that can't quite hide the dark, swampy undertone of her music. Watching her in concert, it's hard not to gawk at the stand-up bass that nearly dwarfs her petite frame. On her third solo album, though, Miss LaVere refocuses our attention with some of the most atmospheric country songs this side of Neko Case, de-emphasizing her strength as a bass player and presenting herself as a full-package Americana artist."

Matt Warner's captivating rockabilly piano and vocal skills recently earned him a trip to Chicago to audition for the role of Jerry Lee Lewis in The Million Dollar Quartet. The twenty-year-old Scotts Valley sensation, who has been performing publicly since he was fifteen, has gained a world-wide following through his media performances on line . His repertoire covers the spectrum of American music: country & western, boogie woogie, hillbilly, honky tonk, gospel and R&R.
