Chuck Brodsky is a storyteller, a songwriter, a troubadour, and a modern-day bard. His wit and irony, down-to-earth warmth, and quirky, rootsy, finely crafted songs tell stories of oddball and underdog characters. His songs celebrate the goodness in people, the eccentric, the holy, the profound, the courageous, the inspiring, the beautiful. They poke fun at what needs poking and sometimes challenge what needs to be challenged. They're sworn to tell the truth. Over the past 25 years, Chuck has performed at festivals and in concerts all across the USA, Canada, Ireland, Denmark, England, Israel, Lithuania, Latvia, Wales, and the Shetland Islands of Scotland. He's performed three times at the National Baseball Hall of Fame, and 22 of his Baseball story songs have been enshrined in the Hall of Fame's sound recording library. Chuck has appeared many times for Fiddling Cricket and for Snazzy Productions, the last two being at The Ugly Mug. We welcome him back there for the first show of 2023! https://www.chuckbrodsky.com

Somewhere between the tropical lounges of 1930's LA and the honkytonk joints of 1950's California, you will find Poi Rogers performing vintage country & western swing, Hawaiian steel guitar ballads and cowboy tunes (some original, some covers). Gerard Egan and Carolyn Sills are inductees into the Sacramento Western Swing Hall of Fame and Carolyn is the Academy of Western Artists Female Vocalist of 2022. Gerard doubles on acoustic bass and 1954 Fender triple neck steel guitar. Carolyn plays standup bass. Their timeless harmonies tie it all together! Carolyn and Gerard also perform in the Carolyn sills Combo. https://www.poirogers.com

Joshua Lowe (Josh Lowe and The Juncos) is a local singer-songwriter steeped in several traditions: folk, blues, old time and country. Sometimes calling his material "Post Modern American Roots", Josh has been teaming up with Patti Maxine in duo shows around Santa Cruz for several years now. Patti (steel, lap steel, guitar, vocal) is a local icon who loves to play music as many times a week as possible, teaming up in duos to full bands of all genres and all ages playing the steel guitar, for which she is known as "The Queen of Steel". She is also the musician who has played most times in our Ugly Mug series. http://www.joshualowemusic.com/joshua-lowe-patti-maxine
