(if you wish, bring your own wine and pay corkage)David Luning was studying film scoring at the Berklee School of Music in Boston when friends introduced him to some of John Prine's music. Though not interested in folk/Americana/country before that, he immediately dropped out and returned to his native California (Marin County), where he has morphed into a unique singer-songwriter and live performer. His insightful lyrics are delivered in a deceptively simple style, with nothing superfluous, and every syllable crystal clear. He will certainly make you laugh on occasions, and the poignancy of some of the lyrics may well make you cry. I did the first time I saw him.
David's songs have been featured in films and TV and he has opened for Jay Leno, shared stages with John Hiatt and Chris Isaak, and appeared at major Californian festivals (Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, Kate Wolf, Strawberry). He plays with a full band, as a duo with his acoustic bass player, or solo. This will be an intimate solo performance; one voice, one guitar. www.davidluning.com/

Chris Webster's voice has those ineffable qualities of vocal grain, emotional nuance, timing and phrasing, and warmth, which characterize truly great and moving singers in any style. As part of the Webster Sisters, and with Nina Gerber, she has played for Fiddling Cricket many times in the past. She covers a wide range of material, including her own as a songwriter, accompanied by Nina's fabulous guitar work. http://www.chriswebstermusic.com/

He has seven albums under his belt with original songs that have been recognized as some of the finest compositions on Western Americana out there. The Western Horseman magazine picked "The 13 Best Cowboy Songs," and included two compositions by Mike, putting him alongside other writers such as Ian Tyson, Tom Russell, and Gene Autry.
Mike's mastery of the guitar supports his original songs, and storytelling. Ranging from traditional cowboy songs to Dylan, Haggard, and Guthrie, he has a deep appreciation of master songwriters. Ian Tyson took him under his wing, mentoring him on songwriting and performing. They remained close friends until Ian's passing.www.mikebeck.com
According to Ramblin' Jack Elliot, "Mike Beck plays the guitar like a Byrd. His strings do things that mine could never do. They obey the slightest finger-touch commands like a fine Reining Horse."
